PSA Grading Guide: What to Look For
Thinking about sending your cards to PSA? Before you submit, take a few minutes to check the card's condition or bring it into store and have us check it for you!
Now youre probably wondering what to look for, PSA primarily looks at centering, corners, edges, and surface when determining a grade.
1. Centering
Check the borders on the front and back. Look for noticeable differences from left to right and top to bottom.
2. Corners
Inspect all four corners for whitening, dents, bends, or soft edges. Even small imperfections can affect the grade.
3. Edges
Look closely for whitening, chipping, or rough edges, especially on dark-bordered cards.
4. Surface
Under bright light, check for scratches, print lines, dents, stains, and other imperfections. Tilt the card to catch issues that aren't visible straight on.
Before You Submit
Ask yourself:
Is the card well centered?
Are the corners and edges clean?
Is the surface free of noticeable defects?
Would I still be happy with a PSA 9?
Remember, pack fresh doesn't always mean PSA 10. Factory defects and small imperfections can affect the final grade.
Take your time, inspect your cards carefully, and always check PSA's current pricing and submission requirements before sending them in.
